Holiday Gift Recipe

Have you ever tried Harry and David's Moose Munch?  It is delicious.  You will pay $29.95 for 24 oz.

I stumbled upon a copycat recipe a couple of years ago and now it is my go to holiday gift as it is surprisingly easy.

It calls for Crunch n Munch, so I hope you got the deal from Amazon (but if you didn't, it still makes for an inexpensive treat at the regular price).

Here it is:

Copy Cat Moose Munch

16oz Toffee Popcorn, such as Crunch n Munch
1 14oz. pkg Chocolate Candy Melts
1 14 oz pkg White Candy Melts
 1 bag Broken Pretzels
Assorted Nuts (Pecans, Cashews, Almonds)

Melt candy according to package instructions.  Mix together popcorn, pretzels and nuts.  Pour the chocolate over half of the popcorn mixture, pour the white chocolate over the other half.  Spread mixtures on a cookie sheet covered with wax or parchment paper.  Let cool and harden.  Place in the fridge to speed up the process, if desired.  Once hardened, break into smaller pieces.  Store in an airtight container.

This recipe is very forgiving.  The toffee popcorn coated with the melts is delicious as it is.  You can add just pretzels or just nuts, whatever combination you like.  Sometimes, I add toffee bits or M&Ms.  You can also use melted chocolate chips or almond bark for the coating.  I have used different colored melts depending on the holiday.  I made pink and red Moose Munch one year for Valentine's day.  You can purchase the melts at Michael's, don't forget your coupon!  You can find almond bark and chocolate chips at the grocery store-usually on sale for the holidays.

I like to package this in a cellophane bag and tie with a ribbon to give for gifts.

Enjoy!

There is a great deal at Walgreen's through 9/24 with this coupon.  Click here to print.

Buy 4 bags of M&M's on sale 2/$5
Use 2 $1.50/2 coupons
Pay $7.00

Total:  $.50/bag

You can use these coupons on any variety of M&M's.  I love to use M&M's in place of chocolate chips when I make chocolate chip cookies, and for $.50 a bag, this makes for some very inexpensive treats.

Here's my Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe (I have spent years searching for the perfect recipe, and this is it!)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies EVER!

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs (room temp if possible)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips OR use your M&M's!

Cream butter, brown sugar and white sugar together in a mixer. Then add the eggs, one at a time. Beat until creamy. Add the vanilla.

In another bowl mix the dry ingredients together before slowly adding them to the creamed mixture. When combined, stop the mixer and add the semi-sweet chips. Mix and then drop by the teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Mold them into a ball, if desired(If you are using M&M's, put them on top of your cookies after you have formed the ball so they don't get crushed).

Bake on 350 degrees for 8 minutes(Do not overbake!). Place on wire rack to cool. Enjoy!
